All would surely agree that death is the most inevitable truth ever. Lost in the fast paced lives of today we hardly ever get the time to live the moment, leave alone thinking about life in general. However, there is no human being who must not have pondered about the eventuality of death.
After all there is no escape from it. No matter how much we love life, it can't surmount the actuality of death. The thought of death, what is death, how it occurs, why it occurs and what happens thereafter continues to reverberate in the minds of one and all. However, it is still a mystery to us mortals and perhaps will continue to remain this way.
It is common belief that death is not the end. It is simply the start of a new life in the form of re-birth. How true the perception is, is still unknown. This perception usually stems from the fact that human beings are never completely ready to let go. Re-birth for us is therefore an attempt to hold on to life.
The Christian view has different theories in the context of life after death. One variant of Christian theory states that after death, the human beings stay in their graves. The deceased has to stay this way and wait for the dooms day when the entire world will come to an end. Then all the deceased will have to face the judgment of their deeds as performed on the earth. This view thereby emphasizes on the 'post humous patience'.
Another set of view states that the when a person dies, he/she immediately goes to hell or heaven based on the good and the bad deeds they had performed on earth. However, this too is not the final destination as it is simply a temporary stay. The people in hell or heaven then wait for the final resurrection to happen. Only after the final resurrection and the final judgment the finality of the eternal destination is determined.
Since death is one of the biggest mysteries of life, different religions offer different views about its eventuality. The views of Hinduism are quite in contrast to the views of Christianity. It believes in the theory of the karma and a reincarnation based on it. It states that the soul never dies, it only take different forms. Based on the karma the soul takes up a new body and is reincarnated back to the earth as a human being or an animal.
No matter what happens after death, it is something totally beyond our control. Are we going for a reincarnation or are we going to die forever, it is all very mystical. So, instead concentrate on living the present fully. Live everyday as if it is the last day of your life and strive hard to come out with the best of what you have.
